Payments for EV charging stations scan, pay, charge.

An EV charging payment gateway lets a charge point operator take money for a charging session at the point of use by QR scan, app wallet or card without an attendant. Rapid Gateway gives Pakistani CPOs Raast QR, cards, JazzCash, easypaisa and bank transfer through one API, with per-site reporting and T+1 settlement into the operator’s business account.

What is an EV charging payment gateway?

An EV charging payment gateway is the payment layer behind a charging station. It collects money from the driver for a session, confirms that payment to the charge point operator’s management system so the connector can unlock, and settles the accumulated revenue into the operator’s bank account. It is the difference between a charger that generates revenue and a charger that generates goodwill.

The defining constraint of charging payments is that nobody is standing there. There is no cashier to take cash, no terminal to hand over, and no way to chase a driver who has already left. The payment has to complete before the electrons move, on the driver’s own phone, in under twenty seconds, at two in the morning on a motorway.

Pakistan’s charging network is being built right now

Pakistan’s National Electric Vehicle Policy 2025–2030 targets 30% of new vehicle sales being new energy vehicles by 2030, backed by purchase subsidies aimed first at two- and three-wheelers — the segment where Pakistani EV adoption has actually taken off. The same policy outlines roughly 3,000 charging stations nationwide by 2030, beginning with fast chargers at strategic sites along the motorways and the N-5.

On the regulatory side, NEECA has been issuing licences for EV charging infrastructure and battery swapping stations since its 2024 regulations, and NEPRA has approved a discounted EV charging tariff — the single biggest input in whether a site’s unit economics work. A one-window approval route has narrowed the gap between deciding to build a site and energising it.

What that adds up to: operators are choosing their payment infrastructure now, while networks are small, rather than retrofitting it across fifty sites later. That is the easy time to get it right.

What a charge point operator actually needs from payments

Not a generic checkout. Unattended acceptance, session-level reconciliation, per-site reporting and an MDR that does not eat the margin between the EV tariff and your price per kWh.

Unattended by default

A charging bay earns money at 2am or it does not earn at all. Scan-to-pay means no cashier, no card machine to lock up, and no reason to staff a site that only sees six sessions a night.

Raast QR right on the charger

A sticker on the unit is the entire payment terminal. Drivers scan with any Pakistani bank app, confirm, and the payment lands in real time — no wallet signup, no app download, no card present

MDR that survives thin margins

Charging economics live in the gap between a discounted EV tariff and what you can charge per kWh. A published 2% wallet / 2.5% card rate lets you model that gap instead of guessing at it.

Per-site and per-charger reporting

Break revenue down by location, unit and time of day. Which motorway site pays for itself, which mall bay is dead between 10 and 4 — answered from the dashboard, not a spreadsheet.

Refunds without a phone call

A session that fails mid-charge, a driver who stops at 60% — refund the unused balance from the dashboard or over the API, and it is done. Disputes at a charging site are a solved problem or a one-star review.

T+1 settlement to the operator’s account

Session revenue from every site consolidates and settles into your company account the next working day, with a settlement report that reconciles against your CMS session log.

Four ways to charge for a charge

Most networks run two or three of these at once — QR for passing traffic, wallets for regulars, invoices for fleets. All four settle into the same account.

Designers & creatives

Logo, brand and UI projects billed in milestones advance on brief, balance on delivery, both as separate payment links.

Developers & IT consultants

Retainers and sprint-based invoicing on a recurring schedule, so the invoice goes out without you remembering to send it.

Marketers & agencies

Monthly management fees plus pass-through ad budgets, invoiced separately and reconciled without a spreadsheet.

Tutors & coaches

Per-month or per-batch tuition collected on a schedule, with reminders chasing the students who have not paid.

Every kind of charging site

A motorway DC bay and a housing-society AC point have completely different economics — and the same payment problem.

A queue that costs you a week

A mobile-first checkout that loads fast on Pakistani 4G and supports every popular payment method fewer drop-offs, more orders.

Manual reconciliation, every cycle

Returning customers pay in two taps. Save-card, retry-failed-payment and smart redirects boost recovered revenue.

No proof of payment for days

Visa, Mastercard, PayPak, Raast, JazzCash, easypaisa and bank transfer in a single, branded checkout.

Cash sitting in the wrong hands

Real-time risk scoring, 3-D Secure for cards, and chargeback handling included, not extra.

Overseas and out-of-city parents stuck

Three steps to a paid charging session

We are the money layer, not the charging platform. That keeps the integration small — most CMS teams finish it in a day.

Onboard the institution

KYC in your business name, your store URL, and the bank account you want settlements in. No setup fee and no monthly minimum same-day onboarding is normal.

Connect your fee data

Install the WooCommerce, Shopify or Wix plugin and paste your live key or POST a payment intent from a custom stack and handle the signed webhook

Send the fee link and get paid

Enable cards, Raast, JazzCash, easypaisa and bank transfer from the dashboard. They appear at checkout immediately no redeploy.

Built on regulated rails

A large share of Pakistani ecommerce happens on Instagram, Facebook and WhatsApp, not on a storefront. Payment links and QR codes work the same way there: you send a link in the chat where the sale is already happening, the customer pays with whatever method they prefer, and it lands in the same dashboard and the same settlement as a website order.

If you invoice rather than sell from a catalogue custom orders, wholesale, made-to-order  online invoicing covers that, including recurring billing for repeat customers. Plenty of merchants start on links, prove the demand, and build the store afterwards.

What is the best payment gateway for ecommerce in Pakistan?

The right gateway is the one that covers every rail your customers actually use — cards, Raast, JazzCash, easypaisa and bank transfer publishes its pricing, and has a ready-made plugin for your platform. Rapid Gateway does all three at 2% MDR on wallets and 2.5% on cards with T+1 settlement. We also maintain an honest side-by-side of the main Pakistani options if you want to compare before committing.

How do I add a payment gateway to my Shopify or WooCommerce store in Pakistan?

Install the DeltPay Gateway plugin from the Shopify App Store or the WooCommerce plugin directory, paste your live API key from the dashboard, and enable the payment methods you want. Cards, Raast and wallets then appear at checkout. Most stores go live the same day they onboard; no developer is needed for either platform.

What does an ecommerce payment gateway cost in Pakistan?

DeltaPay Gateway charges no setup fee and no monthly subscription only a merchant discount rate per successful transaction: 2% on wallet payments (JazzCash, easypaisa) and 2.5% on cards, with volume-based pricing above a certain scale. Be wary of gateways that will not publish a rate before a sales call; you cannot model your unit economics without one.

Should my store still offer cash on delivery?

Yes but as one option, not the default. COD converts first-time buyers in low-trust categories, and removing it entirely will cost you orders. The goal is to shift repeat customers to prepaid, where your cash settles on T+1 instead of after a courier remittance cycle, and your return rate drops because the buyer has actually committed.

How do I get more customers to pay online instead of COD?

Three things move the needle: show every payment method so nobody is forced into COD by default; make the prepaid path visibly safe with 3-D Secure, a branded checkout and a clear refund policy; and give a small prepaid incentive free delivery or a modest discount. That incentive is almost always cheaper than the two-way shipping and restocking cost of a refused COD order.

How fast do I receive money from online orders?

T+1 the next working day after settlement, into your own business bank account, with a settlement report listing the individual orders in each deposit. Raast payments clear on Pakistan’s national instant rail, so there is no card-network waiting period on that method.

Do I need to be a registered company to accept online payments?

You need to onboard as a merchant with KYC. Sole proprietors with an NTN and a business bank account are supported alongside registered companies you do not need to incorporate first. What you do need is a settlement account in the business’s name rather than a personal wallet.

How are refunds and chargebacks handled?

Refunds are initiated from the dashboard or over the API, full or partial, against the original order. Card chargebacks follow the card-network dispute process and the dashboard tracks each case with its evidence deadline. Raast and wallet payments carry effectively no chargeback exposure, which is another reason to steer customers toward them.

Is my customers’ card data safe on my store?

Card details never touch your servers. Payments are processed on PCI-DSS-ready infrastructure, so your store never stores or transmits card numbers and your own PCI scope stays minimal. 3-D Secure authentication is applied to card payments as standard.

Can I accept payments without a website?

Yes. Payment links and QR codes let you sell from Instagram, Facebook, WhatsApp or a physical counter with no store at all the same account, the same dashboard, the same settlement. Many merchants start there and add a store later.

Which payment methods should I turn on first?

All of them. There is no per-method fee, and every method you leave off is a segment of shoppers who will abandon. If you must sequence it: Raast and cards cover the widest reach, then JazzCash and easypaisa for wallet-first households, then bank transfer for large-ticket orders.
